NOW OR NEVER, the band, grew from the creative vision of Tiffany Elaine. It's a continuing evolution as their styles continue to melt together and new songs are written. They found their groove by combining alt-country, folk, hip hop, rock and roll and a touch of the blues. Hard to describe, but easy to listen to.

Becky Warren @ History Museum of Carteret County
March 14, 2019 | 7:00 pm-8:30 pm
1008 Arendell Street, Morehead City

Come listen to acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Becky Warren singer-songwriter and guitarist based in NashvilleTennessee. She has won both the Merlefest Songwriting Contest and the Kerrville New Folk Competition. She formerly performed with the Boston-based alternative country band the Great Unknowns as their frontwoman, beginning in 2003. In 2016, she released her solo debut album, War Surplus, a concept album that follows a fictional couple, Scott, and his girlfriend-turned-wife, June. Warren performs all of the album's songs from either Scott's or June's perspective. The album is based on Warren's own life, as she married a soldier in 2005 who was deployed to fight in the Iraq War soon afterward. When he returned, he had developed posttraumatic stress disorder. Four years after they married, Warren and her husband divorced. Warren spent four year writing the songs on War Surplus. The music will be from 7:00-8:30 pm. Admission is free, though we’ll “pass the hat” for Becky. All are welcome as we build community through music!

2nd Annual Burn Your Socks On The Equinox
March 20, 2019 | 6:00 pm-8:00 pm
Front Street Village, Lennoxville Road, Beaufort
(252) 728-2141

In the mid-1980s at a boatyard in Annapolis, MD., Captain Bob Turner wore socks all during the long, cold winter months while working on OPB's (Other People's Boats). By winter's end, his socks were stand-up stiff with sawdust, caulk and bottom paint. ON the first day of spring, Capt. Bob placed his leavings laden socks in a paint tray, doused them with lighter fluid, set them on fire, and then drank beer to celebrate. And so the spring tradition of sock burning began and it has grown to coastal communities across the country.

Come join us and celebrate the age old maritime tradition of burning your socks on the spring solstice. Enjoy oysters, food, brew and music. Tickets are $25 and available online at www.beaufortnc.com or at Backstreet Pub in Beaufort.

Bring a pair of old socks to burn. Bring a pair of new socks to donate.

March 29, 2019 | 9:30 pm - March 30, 2019 | 12:30 pm
325 Mangrove Drive Emerald Isle
(252) 354-2740

With his towering height and powerful voice, Bryan Mayer, is making a BIG impact on the country music scene. A North Carolina native, the six foot seven singer/songwriter began his journey in music when he was 13. The son of a US Marine Corp Colonel and a Navy nurse, while stationed in Quantico, VA, Bryan was tapped by his middle school teacher, Dr. Drake, to play upright bass in the school band, for his already impressive height of 6’1” in the seventh grade. Although Bryan enjoyed playing the bass, the lore of the front man aspect and realizing he could sing led him to pick up the guitar. After some impromptu performances at keg parties at his house in college at ECU, Bryan ended up on the Carolina sands of Oak Island, NC. It was there that he started crafting his style and gutting it out in any bar, restaurant, or private party that would hire him. “Everyone would always tell me that I was going to make it someday. Some wondered why I hadn’t already,” says Mayer. “I knew this was what I was put on earth to do.”

Matt Parker and the Deacons (MPD) is a dynamic trio whose name represents the leader and the band’s musical authenticity. As church deacons hold the mystery of faith in pure conscience, similarly, MPD hold the mystery of music. They are true ministers of music whose style is an eclectic mix of bluesy alternative, funk, and melodic rock with hints of soul. They are also extremely unique in that MPD do not use tracks, loopers or any other audible fabrications to back them up. All of their sound is 100% authentic and live.

A rock band with punk energy and pop reggae grooves, Baltimore’s BALLYHOO! are a fun, fan-loving powerhouse. These road dogs have tirelessly toured coast-to-coast taking their music to the people. Between the road and the studio, BALLYHOO! have crafted a sound distinctly their own; fresh, fun, and embodied by the soul of the party lifestyle. Lead singer and guitarist, Howi Spangler, has a reputation for mixing slick lyrics with his smooth but powerful voice. Drummer Donald Spangler lays out the hard-hitting beats. Scott Vandrey layers in the finishing touches to the band’s signature sound on keys. The guys recently welcomed Nick Lucera as their new bass player.

BALLYHOO! released their 5th studio album Pineapple Grenade on June 25th 2013. It broke through the Billboard Top 200 at #189 as well as reaching #4 Billboard Heatseekers and #5 at iTunes Alternative charts.

The album features “No Good,” produced by Rome Ramirez (Sublime with Rome) and mixed by Paul Leary (U2, Sublime); while the first single “Run” saw an early radio add from KRAB Bakersfield and early radio spins by KROQ Los Angeles, WHFS Baltimore, KTCL Denver, and KCXX Riverside among others. Alongside the album release, BALLYHOO! co-headlined the 2013 Summer Sickness Tour with Authority Zero and special guests Versus The World. Pineapple Grenade is the band’s follow-up to the 2011 LAW Records release of “Daydreams,” which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Reggae Charts and #4 on Amazon.

BALLYHOO!’s unique yet melodic blend of genres, along with their hardcore devotion to the road and their fans have pitched them into snowballing success. The band has performed with a myriad of national touring acts; 311, Slightly Stoopid, SOJA, The Dirty Heads, Matisyahu, and more. Tour highlights include the 2011 311 Pow Wow Festival, the 2012 and 2013 311 Caribbean Cruise, Bamboozle 2012, 2012 Charm City Music Festival, 2013 Cali Roots Festival & the entire 2012 Vans Warped Tour. In 2011, after concluding the Last Calls and Liabilities tour with respected contemporaries, Pepper, they were honored with being included on the ever-popular Hollister Holiday Playlist. They were listed on MTV’s Top 100 Bands to Watch and even featured 2 downloadable songs on the popular video game ROCK BAND.

6th Annual Play the K Golf Tournament
April 27, 2019 | 11:00 am-4:30 pm
300 Links Drive, Beaufort

On Saturday, April 27, 2019, the 6th Annual Kirsten McDonald Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, also known as Play the K, will be held at the Beaufort Club Golf Course. The goal of this tournament is to create a sustainable memorial to honor Kirsten's life and to support deserving youth in Carteret County.

100% of the net proceeds raised will be donated to local nonprofit organization, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain.

As many of you may know, Kirsten lost her life in a tragic automobile accident on March 6, 2012, exactly one month shy of her 21st birthday. Kirsten always had a beautiful, bright smile on her face. Her strong, loving personality and her passion for others - regardless of their background, education or color of their skin - radiated from within her heart and soul. Kirsten had the capacity to see beyond others' social and economic circumstances. Instead, she chose to focus on their inherent goodness.
