I was born in Miami Florida. My family were commercial fisherman "originally from Diamond City on Shackleford Banks" settled in an area of Morehead City known as "The Promise Land" sometime between the Civil War and the turn of the century. They would fish part of the year here in the Morehead City / Carteret County area during the spring, summer and fall of the year. I went to college in Miami, but have spent most of my adult life in the Morehead City / Carteret County area. I served four years in the U.S. Army with the 24th Infantry Division. I spent ten years in law enforcement in various capacities. I have been in retail sales for the past 18 years, (13 years in auto sales and 5 years in the sale of manufactured housing). Over the years, I have served with a variety of civic and community organizations in the area. I have served on a church board and in other capacities. I also do photography. I wrote and composed a book about my fathers'' work titled "Reginald Lewis''s Down East" Images of America. He was a nationally known photographer and artist. I live in Morehead City with my wife, Gay of 17 years, and our 12-year-old son, Jordan. I have two older children, Teddy Lewis and Beth Ann Lewis, who also live in the area.
